PERGAMON: DOCTRINE OF BALAAM
PERGAMON: DOCTRINE OF BALAAM
The real history of Halloween | Hollow Weeny | Part Two
THE ASSAULT OF BALAAM
The doctrine of Balaam is one of the most sobering warnings in Scripture, because it reveals how Satan works when he cannot destroy God’s people through direct assault. Balaam could not curse Israel, so he devised a strategy to corrupt them from within—seduction, mixture, and compromise. He taught Balak to lure Israel into idolatry through enticement, pleasure, and participation in pagan rituals. Instead of attacking the covenant head‑on, Balaam weakened it through cultural assimilation. This doctrine becomes a spiritual blueprint: when the enemy cannot defeat God’s people by force, he entices them to join the darkness willingly. Balaam’s tactic was simple—make sin look attractive, make idolatry look harmless, and make participation feel normal.

Looking back, I can see how my childhood enthusiasm for Halloween unknowingly advanced the very doctrines of Balaam.
I promoted the night with excitement—costumes, fear, candy, and all the cultural trappings—never realizing I was participating in a system built on seduction, mixture, and spiritual compromise.
Balaam’s strategy was simple: make darkness look harmless, make idolatry look fun, and entice God’s people to join in without thinking.
That is exactly what I did. I encouraged friends, celebrated the imagery, and embraced the rituals, believing it was all innocent entertainment. In reality, I was advancing the objectives of Satan; I was helping normalize a holiday rooted in the same spiritual patterns that once lured Israel into idolatry and later shaped the pagan worship surrounding Zeus’s altar in Pergamon. I wasn’t cursing God’s people—I was inviting them to participate in Satan’s curse.
When the Lord opened my eyes to the true nature of Halloween, everything changed. I saw that I had been advancing a demonic holiday without ever questioning its origins or its spiritual implications.
The realization was sobering, even heartbreaking. I could no longer justify or romanticize what Scripture clearly warns against. So I disowned every connection to Halloween—its symbols, its celebrations, its cultural grip. I stepped away from the compromise and reclaimed the ground I had surrendered in ignorance. What once defined my childhood now stands as a testimony of deliverance: I walked out of Balaam’s doctrine and into the truth of Yeshua, choosing to expose the darkness rather than celebrate it.
Balaam’s Pattern in Pergamon: The Throne of Zeus
Centuries later, the same pattern reappears in Pergamon, the city Yeshua Himself identified as the place “where Satan’s throne is” (Revelation 2:13). At the heart of Pergamon stood the massive altar of Zeus—a center of pagan worship, ritual feasting, and spiritual seduction. The believers in Pergamon were warned against the very same doctrine of Balaam, because the city’s culture was saturated with practices designed to pull them into idolatry under the guise of civic participation and entertainment. What Balaam accomplished through Moab, Satan accomplished through Pergamon's festivals, rituals, and celebrations. The altar of Zeus became a cultural magnet, drawing people into spiritual compromise through spectacle, ritual, and the normalization of pagan/demonic worship. The doctrine of Balaam lived on—not only as a curse shouted from a mountain, but as a cultural invitation wrapped in graven images of our modern Halloween.
From Zeus to Modern Halloween: The Repackaged Seduction
Modern Halloween carries the same spiritual pattern, though wrapped in costumes, candy, and Hollywood polish. What continues to be openly practiced in ancient & present cults and pagan festivals—rituals honoring the dead, invoking spirits, celebrating darkness, and glorifying fear—has been repackaged as harmless fun.
The doctrine of Balaam thrives in environments where darkness is disguised as entertainment. Halloween takes the ancient deeds celebrated around altars like that of Zeus and dresses them in child‑friendly imagery, making participation feel innocent, cute, and culturally expected. The enemy does not need to curse a nation when he can entice it to celebrate what God calls detestable. In this way, Halloween becomes a modern expression of Balaam’s strategy: seduction through participation, compromise through culture, and spiritual dullness through amusement.
The Continuing Warning: Balaam’s Doctrine in the Last Days
The doctrine of Balaam is not merely an ancient story—it is a prophetic warning for the last days—a setup for the Antichrist.
Whenever a culture normalizes practices rooted in darkness, whenever entertainment becomes a gateway to spiritual compromise, and whenever families are enticed to participate in rituals that contradict Scripture, Balaam’s strategy is at work.
Modern Halloween is not a harmless holiday; it is a cultural mirror of the same seduction that led Israel astray and threatened the early church in Pergamon.
The enemy still uses the same tactic: if he cannot curse God’s people, he will entice them to celebrate what God forbids. The doctrine of Balaam is alive wherever darkness is made attractive, idolatry is made normal, and spiritual compromise is made fun.
I have abandoned this demonic holiday completely, refusing to give darkness even a foothold in my life & so should you! What once felt harmless in childhood is now something I reject entirely, choosing instead to walk in the light and truth of Yeshua.
Our aim is simple: to reveal what has been hidden, to expose what has been disguised, and to equip believers with discernment to stand firm in the Kingdom of God.
