PERGAMON: THE TEMPLE OF SATAN

The real history of Halloween | Hollow Weeny | Part One

THE ALTAR OF ZEUS

Pergamon stood as one of the darkest spiritual centers of the ancient world—so notorious that Yeshua Himself called it “the place where Satan’s throne is” in Revelation 2. Rising above the city was the massive altar of Zeus, a structure whose rituals and symbolism shaped the region’s fascination with death, spirits, and the underworld. Over centuries, the pagan festivals and occult practices that flowed from places like Pergamon helped form the spiritual soil from which modern Halloween eventually grew. What began as ancient celebrations of darkness and the dead has carried into today’s cultural observances, still bearing the shadow of its origins.

Growing up, I thought Halloween was nothing more than a night for candy, costumes, and scaring the Hell into children—just harmless fun wrapped in plastic masks and sugar highs. No one ever told me the real story behind this dark celebration or the spiritual roots that shaped it. What I embraced as innocent excitement was, in reality, a doorway into traditions far removed from the light of Yeshua. Only later did I learn that the holiday I once laughed through carried a history steeped in deception, fear, and the demonic.

Later, after I came to Christ, I was taught that Halloween had Catholic roots connected to honoring the dead—but even that explanation didn’t satisfy the unease I felt about the holiday. It wasn’t until I dug deeper into its history that the darker truth began to surface. My research led me past the veneer of cultural tradition and straight into the ancient world of pagan/Satan worship, where I stumbled upon Zeus, Pergamon, and the very altar Yeshua called “the throne of Satan.” Only then did I realize that the celebration I once embraced so casually was built on foundations far older—and far darker—than anything I had ever been told.

That discovery opened a door I never expected to walk through. The deeper I traced the roots of Halloween, the more the trail led me back to Pergamon—the ancient city Yeshua Himself identified as the dwelling place of Satan’s throne. What began as a simple question about a childhood holiday suddenly unfolded into a confrontation with the very altar of Zeus, the epicenter of pagan worship and spiritual darkness. And it was there, in the shadow of that throne, that the true story behind Halloween’s origins came into focus, setting the stage for what I now call Pergamon: The Temple of Hollow Weeny.

The Human Sacrifice of Children

Zeus stands at the center of ancient Greek mythology as the king of the gods, ruling from Mount Olympus and presiding over the sky, thunder, and justice. His worship emerged early in one of the Seven Churches Paul himself founded, Pergamon, which became one of the most dominant religious forces in the classical world. Note: Paul didn’t start Pergamon; he founded a church in it to evangelize its followers.

Temples dedicated to Zeus—such as the colossal altar in Pergamon—became hubs of political power, ritual child sacrifice, and cultural identity. Over time, Zeus came to embody not only divine authority but also the moral and social order the Greeks believed governed the universe. His cult shaped festivals, civic life, and regional identity across the Mediterranean, leaving a legacy that influenced later Roman religion and the broader pagan world addressed throughout Scripture.

Satan’s number one goal is to stop the existence of children!

Through every age of human history, Satan has worked relentlessly to eliminate children—whether through murder, genocides, ritual sacrifices, or the modern plague of abortion. His strategy has never changed: destroy new life before the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob can use it to advance the Kingdom. From Pharaoh’s slaughter of Hebrew infants to Herod’s massacre in Bethlehem, the enemy has always targeted the next generation, knowing that every child carries divine purpose and potential. The war against the unborn and the young is not merely cultural or political; it is spiritual, ancient, and intentional. Satan fears what God can do through a child surrendered to Him.

In the ancient world, temples devoted to pagan gods often became centers of unspeakable practices, and Pergamon’s altar—later called the “Temple of Satan” by Yeshua in Revelation 2—stood as one of the darkest. While Zeus was celebrated as the king of the gods, his worship embodied the same murderous spirit that has marked Satan’s work through the ages: the destruction of innocence and the corruption of worship.

Though the historical record only hints at documentation of child sacrifice at Pergamon, the broader pagan world surrounding Zeus was saturated with rituals that mirrored Satan’s hatred for God’s image‑bearers, especially children. The altar itself, shaped like a massive throne and bearing an angel of light with its wings spread to hold a child, became a symbol of a spiritual empire built on fear, bloodshed, and idolatry—an earthly shadow of the enemy’s desire to claim worship through the destruction of the most vulnerable.

Modern Halloween has become a revised, Hollywood‑polished version of a night once steeped in darkness—an evening designed to erode the innocence of children and disguise ancient pagan practices as harmless fun.

What our culture now markets as costumes, candy, and playful fright was once rooted in rituals that glorified fear, death, and the supernatural—the demonic. In many ways, Halloween has taken the dark deeds celebrated in the worship of false gods—like Zeus, whose throne stood in Pergamon—and repackaged them as entertainment. The enemy’s strategy hasn’t changed; he simply dresses old darkness in new costumes, turning spiritual danger into cultural amusement.

So, what does Satan get out of all this?

Satan is nothing more than a little weeny. And that’s where the story turns. Once you see how ancient darkness was repackaged for modern culture, Halloween stops looking like a night of innocent fun and starts revealing its true lineage. The same spiritual forces that once drew worshipers to Zeus's throne in Pergamon now whisper through a holiday wrapped in demonic imagery. What was once openly celebrated in the Temple of Satan has been cleverly disguised as entertainment, turning ancient rituals into modern amusement. This is the doorway into Pergamon: The Temple of Hollow Weeny—a journey that exposes how old shadows still walk in new disguises.

This mini‑series will confront the real, true‑to‑life darkness that has threaded its way through human history, exposing the enemy’s strategy with clarity and conviction.
We’re pulling back the curtain on Satan’s long‑standing goal—to distort truth, corrupt innocence, and draw hearts away from the God of Israel. By tracing the spiritual lineage from ancient Pergamon to modern cultural practices, this series shines light on the schemes the enemy has repackaged for today’s world.

Our aim is simple: to reveal what has been hidden, to expose what has been disguised, and to equip believers with discernment to stand firm in the Kingdom
